Beyerdynamic Headband (DT1770 / DT1990) Installation

What you'll need: Your new headband, a steady hand, and a Torx-head screwdriver (size T10)
Installation Time 🕓 : 10-15 minutes

Step 1: Detaching the Left Adjustment Block

Lay the headphones down on their left side. From the inner left adjustment block, unscrew the two screws using your Torx screwdriver.

Detach the inner plate (labeled “L”), then gently pull the cable out from the notch in the plate. Remove the outer plate on the opposite side (labeled “beyerdynamic”).

Step 2: Detaching the Right Adjustment Block

Lay the headphones down on their right side.

From the inner adjustment block, unscrew the two screws and detach the inner plate. Pull the cable out from the notch, then remove the outer plate on the opposite side (labeled “beyerdynamic”).

Step 3: Remove the stock headband

Unfold both sides of the headband—they will flip outward.
With both sides unfolded, the headband will come free.

Step 4: Reattach the Left Adjustment Block

Tip: The left side is the one with the mini-XLR female connector on the ear cup.

Reattach the outer plate (labeled “beyerdynamic”), lay down the headphone, then place the inner plate back on top and screw in the two screws. Reinsert the cable neatly into the notch in the plate.

Step 5: Reattach the Right Adjustment Block

Step 6: Sliding in the New Headband

Slide the new headband—arched with the cushion side facing down—beneath the metal band.

Step 7: Wrap the sides of the headband

Fold the sides of the new headband over the metal band and cable.

Start with the side that has the button snap posts, then fold the side with the button snap caps on top, aligning the snaps neatly over each other.

Step 8: Fasten the Snaps

Press down firmly on each snap until you feel them securely click into place—there are four in total.
Once all snaps are fastened, your installation is complete.
